July Block of the Month

(Pattern is Ohio Star from Quilter’s Cache though I didn’t actually use those directions at all)

After doing all those Dear Janes, this block was unbelievably easy. It’s the last block of the year! I’ve learned so much from joining this group and my piecing skills have really improved. Even though I love quilting, I used to be afraid to tackle triangles and things, but with the quick piecing techniques and lots of practice I am very willing to go ahead and piece. I don’t have to be a slave to the paper piecing anymore!

I’m really happy with the way this turned out. I thought I hated making hour glasses, but I used a quick piecing method that wans’t bad at all.

I thinking I am making the quiltwith 16 blocks, though I may go ahead and do 20 blocks so it isn’t square. Not sure yet. I do know it would be very cool to make a block out of a bunch of the half square triangles I have in my BOM bin, but am not sure if it would actually look good. It’d be scrappy, that’s for sure. The idea may be a whole lot cooler than the execution.

Here’s a pic of what I have so far (not in the final arrangement):

Almost there!
