happy free for all friday everyone! it’s tracy from everymoment.org. :-)

easter traditions for me have changed a lot in the past years… mostly cuz i was out of the country :-) (actually, the last two years i was in danmark for easter… kinda strange how that worked out) but i remember growing up.. finding my easter baskets before heading to church. then having lunch/dinner with family. and since most of my family is so close in proximity to each other (and we are a pretty close knit family as well.. which is a total blessing.. especially this day and age since it’s so rare lately.) we would visit my grandparents on my dad’s side for lunch.. and my grandparents on my mom’s side for dinner. (we do the same thing for thanksgiving and christmas as well. so every year we get TWO thanksgiving dinners.. TWO christmas dinners… etc.) and the funny thing about my parents is that they continue to hide easter baskets around their house…. even when i was in college. now mind you.. i’m an only child. so there were no other kids around to find easter baskets… just me. my parents are cute. :-P

as you can see.. we usually run around a lot for easter.. visiting family.. going to church… eating.. visiting more family.. eating more… still eating…… talking.. laughing.. and eating. so last year was quite a change for me. i traveled to danmark by myself for 3 weeks to visit my good friends over there. last year for easter.. i *gasp* sat in the sun. and that’s all. we did eat as well…. a wonderfully delicious home cooked danish meal in fact…. but i basically had hygge in danmark. (hygge is a danish word that has no english translation. it roughly means relaxed and cozy. it’s very descriptive of the danish culture… where sitting at a dinner table with family and friends… for HOURS… is not uncommon. candles are lit. stories are told. family and friends don’t rush through spending time with each other. and a whole LOT of coffee is consumed. :-)

because i am american.. the concept of hygge is hard for me to apply to my life… but i am working on that.. and planning on instituting a bit of danish culture in my own household when i have a family of my own. :-D

that’s all from me. feel free to stop by everymoment.org and drop a ffaf post on my page. :-) have a great friday everyone!

I was told I could ramble… Hey, how did you know rambling (except I prefer to call it babbling) was among my favorite things to do?

My husband & I went to Maine this past weekend for DH’s 33rd birthday. It was his birthday, but what did we end up doing, but visiting yarn stores. Yes, I am a proud knitter & crocheter – as much as I intended not to write about knitting, here I am mentioning it already! We stopped & visited 3 yarn stores that were “new to me”; two were very pleasant (though one over priced), and the other was the stuff of nightmares… I think it was aiming for the “hip” crowd & I’m not exactly hip.

We managed to go to quite a few antique & flea market type of places. Jon picked up some cars for his collection, and I didn’t get anything. Though, I did make up for it at those yarn stores, and later that night we stopped by Michaels for a laugh (I laugh at all the foo-foo ugly yarn they sell, I prefer wool & alpaca & silk, thank you very much) & I found several skeins of sock yarn begging to be bought at 50% off clearance! Yes, thank you ma’am, now get out of my way, it’s my yarn!

Later that night we went off to eat supper at a buffet places, and called it an early evening. As always, we didn’t sleep in the hotel, I just can not sleep anyplace but my own bed, and if I can’t sleep, Jon can’t sleep!

Spent the next day hitting a few more thrift stores, stopped at the beach to freeze & stopped at the York Lighthouse for a quick photo op.

Ate lunch at Taco Bell…. yummy! I’m basically a vegetarian, but those chicken tacos can get me to eat meat anyday of the week & twice on Sundays!

We ended up getting home early, brought our treasures inside, and were happily greeted by our Zorro who missed us more than words can say!

What is this anyway? Am I posting on your blog? Hopefully that was the intent, and I’m not in trouble or anything. Anyway, there is this series on HBO called “Cathouse”. Its about a brothel in Nevada (its a documentary, so its a real brothel). They interview the employees, and the customers etc. Its pretty entertaining. Its obvious why most of the guys are paying though. They are not to smooth with the ladies. There is one “employee” on there who looks a lot like someone from FF. It is not the person, obviously (at least I don’t think!), but the resemblance is uncanny. Everyone should watch and see if they notice it. If you want, you can “guess” blind who it is that has the look a like working as a legal prostitute in Neveda.

In other news, I saw on the a national geographic special where they have a theory (based upon cat scans) that King Tut died as a result of a severe leg break (his left leg). Perhaps from a chariot fall? Or maybe a battle wound? Next Sunday night, there is going to be a special on King Henry the VIII. I am going to watch it. It looks interesting.
