We’re Here!

We made it to Roanoke just in time for dinner. Pretty nice, considering we didn’t get out of town until after 1 pm. When Erik came into our room last night I took him back to his room and laid down with him. After an hour of him flip flopping and complaining it was hot (he had a point), I gave in (bad mommy) and had him in our bed. We all got a poor amount of sleep even though we didn’t roll out of bed until 9:30. Thus our late start.

The hotel is really nice. It’s not four star or anything, but our room is a sort-of-suite with a pull out sofa bed. Mike managed to get Erik to sleep on the sofa bed so we’ll see how long that lasts. I can’t sleep with him anymore. I give up.

I just logged into Facebook and had a message from my sister wanting me to call her. Not going to happen tonight. Apparently my uncle went down to the place my Grandma keeps all her investments and tried to get them to put everything in his name. They called up at the hospital to talk to my grandma and she told them hell no. So he came up to the hospital and started screaming at my grandma, then screaming at my sister and saying she should be in prison for stealing from grandma (she probably should be, but who causes that kind of scene in front of someone trying to recover from a massive heart attack?). I guess he was screaming for security to come and remove my sister from the room so security came up and removed them both.

I am so glad I’m not there. They both deserve to be horse whipped. He hasn’t been around in years and now he’s trying to get all the money put in his name? He has always been a money hungry scumbag. He calls my grandma and yells at her for doing things to her house because it is eating his inheritance. Personally, I wouldn’t give him a plugged nickle but I know my grandma has it set up to go 50/50 to my mom and him. I guess that’s fair, even if he is a jackass.

I was having a pretty good night until I read all that. Now I have heart burn and a sinking feeling in my stomach. Thanks a lot, sis. I didn’t need to get involved in all that. I know as soon as Grandma is gone it’s going to turn into a nasty money fight because my uncle wants it all. Personally, I don’t want any of it but I do want my mom to get her fair share even though she’ll probably just blow it all on my sister.

I guess it always comes down to money, doesn’t it?

Ok, time to put that out of my mind. Time to think good vacation thoughts. I have no idea what we are going to do tomorrow, other than wander around. I have lots of ideas of things to do. I guess I just need to pick and figure out how to get wherever it is we decide to go. Zoo? Natural Bridge? Downtown? Explore Park? Something fun?

Depending on the weather, the zoo is nice. It’s been long enough since I lived there that I don’t remember how to get anywhere (not that I went by road names when I lived there, I just know you turn at the light by the McDonald’s and Fuddruckers). I can tell you where the Olive Garden is and where the school’s I worked in are.

The zoo is up by the star though. It was really cool to look out at the city before heading over to the zoo.

    Have fun!
