Packing is Fun

Erik is excited to move

Erik’s been enjoying the packing, though he’s the only one. He keeps getting down in the boxes and telling us that he’s going to be taped up forever. Weirdo. He also keeps telling me “thank you for packing, mama.” At least he has some manners, though it is a strange thing for him to say.

I took a few pics of the paint job. The upstairs turned out much more intense than we intended, but maybe it will calm down with the addition of furniture and decor. I’m really pleased with the living room. What a difference color makes! You can view the photos HERE if you are so inclined.

I have to post a couple of pics just so you can see the dramatic change.

I’d say we are about 2/3 done with the packing. Mike has been working his little butt off this weekend. Turns out a three day weekend makes for nice moving conditions. Couldn’t have planned it better if we tried. The moves come on Friday so I’ll be packing through out the week.

I had a quilt project due for a group I’m in, so have been frantically working on that. I bit of waaaaaay more than I could chew this time. I always think things seem so reasonable and they turn into a gigantic time-suck. I posted pics and the recipient is very pleased. I hope she feels that way when she sees it close up. It was definitely a challenge for me and it shows. PIC HERE

I swear Erik’s clothes are breeding. I found all kinds of stuff I don’t remember ever seeing before. I’m sure it must all come from hand-me-downs, but I know I went through them at one point. There were some really cute things that are now too small. Boo! I guess I can send them home with my mom in April if I don’t want to store them all. Let’s face it. Erik needs about seven shirts, max. We do laundry all the time, so 25 shirts is beyond extreme.

Did I mention that my mom is coming in April? She is bringing Braxton along for the ride so I think Erik will be excited. Today he was saying that he wanted Braxton, Laynee, Lexie, grandma and everybody to come visit, but no dogs. Dogs poop. Maybe he won’t be asking for a dog anytime soon. We can hope. I can’t deal with a dirty dog in my house.

Anyway, I’m very excited that she’s coming out! I wish we could have planned it to coincide with Mike’s two week May absence but he doesn’t have dates or even confirmation that he’s going, so it was impractical to try to plan around it. Now that Erik is sleeping through the night and I’m not sleep deprived I guess I can handle two weeks on my own. I know a lot of you do that and more, but that doesn’t mean it is easy. It will be all about survival, I guess.

I am running out of topics and my body is screaming for a nice, soft mattress. I’m outta here!

Oh wow, the painting makes a huge difference. I didn’t expect it to, but it totally did. It looks great.
Erik is looking like a mini-Mike the older he gets. Today I thought for one second – how did she shrink Mike and have him stand in a box, or is it a giant box?
