From Last Night

Gah! I am getting so tired of this site going down. I guess it is time to start looking for a new host since the dreamhost people give me instructions in Greek. Here’s my post from last night.

****

It snowed all morning long, leaving a skiff of snow on the roads. Preschool was cancelled, gym childcare was closed and I had the trots. Not a good recipe for getting out and doing stuff.

My stomach stopped cramping long enough to take Erik and our freecycle sled over to the mini-hill at the park. He had a blast sledding, but we only lasted about a half hour. We don’t have proper winter gear so our extremities were getting a bit icy.

We got home just in time for Erik’s stomach to start rumbling. The poor kid didn’t quite make it to the potty. I really hope his Hanna Anderson pajamas wash out well. It was disgusting. Just what you want to clean up when your own tummy is feeling delicate.

I finally e-mailed one of the preschools I’m interested in and hope they e-mail me back. I’ve decided time and location are the most important factors for his first year of preschool so I’m probably going to put him in a program that is also a daycare. My friend thinks I’m crazy, but she’s trying to get her son in a chi-chi school out in the middle of no where. I think she’s crazy. I guess we’re even.

Speaking of said friend, I feel so bad for her and her little boy. They’ve been battling with his breathing issues ever since I’ve known them. They finally started to get things a little under control when they switched to an asthma specialist pediatrician, but things still weren’t right. She’s very proactive about her son’s health and switches doctors if she feels she is not getting the best service. This morning she took her son to an ENT and he told her he has sleep apnea and needs to have his adenoids and tonsils out. Apparently the reason he won’t sleep through the night, yet falls asleep at the drop of a hat is because he is not getting enough oxygen. The doctor claims that he will be a different child once the surgery is performed, so I really hope he knows his stuff. I am so thankful to have a healthy child. I’m also so glad that she is brave enough to doctor hop. If she was with her original ped she’d still be wondering what was wrong with her son and being told to “wait it out.” Sadly, her original ped is our current ped. If I ever think there is a problem with Erik I’ll be switching in a red hot second.

Dawn asked some questions that some of you must have been wondering so I’ll answer them here. I keep forgetting to mention that my sister broke her arm as well as her leg. Her arm wasn’t really bothering her, but it is in a cast. She still able to write and do other things with it. I guess it had a teeny, tiny little fracture.

Braxton hit Erik’s head with a “shubbel” as Erik is keen to tell everyone. It was an accident, but I don’t know why they had to be playing with big ol’ shovels in the first place. They were helping smooth out the load of gravel my mom ordered and things got out of hand.

Once my sister can drive, I’m sure she’ll be taking the kids back to the Children’s Museum. I picked up a bunch of discount coupons so the price is less than a trip to McDonald’s. They often go to McDonald’s because it is one of the very few indoor kid places in town. I found out that they have a new sports plex that offers open play for a buck a kid, but I was unable to find out times or details. I’m trying to get my sister hooked up with the local MOMS Club so she can at least get that information. She likes to talk on the phone so maybe she should just call them. I am more of a googler than caller, though I am getting better.

I guess I’m going to have to get even better at this calling thing tomorrow. I need to call painters and start getting estimates for the house. I thought we were going to paint it ourselves, but Mike gave me permission to call in the professionals. HOORAY! I’ve been making myself sick over the painting because I totally suck at it and knew I would make a mess of it. Now I just have to make myself sick over choosing the colors. Assuming that the estimates are reasonable.

I have to stop trying to think of things to write and go to bed. I’m exhausted from laying around all day.
