Sleepy Time for Me

I took my sleeping pills a half hour ago and now I’m ready for bed instead of journal writing. But I have to write an entry! Even though it is Saturday and I don’t usually write on Saturdays.

I’m getting up at 4 am so we can be on the road by 4:44. Our plane leaves Baltimore at 7:44 so that should give us plenty of time. I already checked in online, but we still have to drop off our bag. I didn’t realize you got a baggage discount if you did online check-in and paid for your bag then. It was only $12, which still sucks because it is stupid and wrong, but is better than the $25 I had been expecting.

I think I’ve been blocking this trip out of my head because I am totally unprepared. I usually spend the week leading up to the trip buying a ton of useless crap that might entertain Erik and gathering snacks. I am taking some crayons, play-doh, puzzles and memory cards and that should be sufficient. In July he did surprisingly well on the plane, thanks to his social nature. New! People! Everywhere! What can be more entertaining for a little extrovert?

I’m having problems spelling the simplest words. I think it really is time to sign off. Anyway, our flight tomorrow goes from BWI-DEN-PDX-Klamath Falls (I’m guessing no one knows that LMT is Klamath Falls). Our flight back is a lot simpler. It’s just LMT-SFO-BWI. There’s good and bad with the extra layover. Shorter flight/more running around. Longer day/more chance for delays. I’m just hoping we survive without being labelled terrorists because Erik’s new screech is surely a weapon of mass destruction.

I talked to my Grandma today and wanted to go through the phone and strangle her. She is the biggest enabler I’ve ever met. Everything was “poor, poor Lexie. I just feel so sorry for her. She never goes out and parties. Why shouldn’t she get one night out of the whole year to go have fun? Poor, poor Lexie. Her kids need her. I just feel soooooooo sorry for her.”

Gag gag gag gag gag. I ended up giving Erik the phone and letting him hang up because she and I were about to come to blows. I am not made of stone–I know the girl is in a lot of pain and I’m sorry, but that’s just tough shit. She always is getting into these situations. I don’t know many people with three young children who go out and party so hard they snap their tibia in half. It’s a pretty steep price, but it’s part of a pattern of behavior. She’s never going to change.

Ok, my eyes are basically closed. I’m off to bed. I’ll update when I can! It will probably be daily since they do have internet, though I’ll be wrangling four kids so who knows what my computer time will look like.
