Bodily Fluids

Sorry for grossing you guys out yesterday. I knew there had to be some poppers out there, so I had to share my good fortune. Today, of course, I have my regrets. My head hurts, but even worse, my right bicep is totally killing me. I had to exert a lot of pressure to get the pop.

But today’s bodily fluid talk is all about Erik. I am almost wondering if I should take him to the doctor. Last night he woke up in hysterics around 10:30. He had wet the bed and was totally freaking out. We got him changed and Mike was holding him, trying to calm him down, when he wet all over Mike. Lucky daddy.

Bed wetting is a very rare event in our household. Usually we get him up about 4 am and let him go potty and that’s all it takes. I don’t know what happened last night.

He wet himself at the gym three times in the past week including today. He wets himself at home occasionally. I asked him if it hurts to pee because I’ve heard a sudden potty regression can be caused by a bladder infection, but he claims it doesn’t hurt.

He is still a bit constipated, so perhaps that is the cause of all our troubles. I’ve tried to get him to eat some different fruits, but he won’t do it. I did manage to get him to eat a whole Kashi granola bar. I was so excited I bought two more boxes. I gave him a second bar and the little turd picked out all the chocolate chips, leaving a big pile of sticky oats behind. Now he won’t even do that.

Am I going to have to make no-bake chocolate cookies and give him those all day long? We are trying (unsuccessfully) to get him off so much sugar. He begs for sugar/chocolate/candy/ice cream constantly. We try not to give in, but there’s only so much begging a human can take. Before he was born I had this vision of only letting my child eat healthy foods. That lasted the first two years, but then he learned how to talk. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

On to better topics.

I was very productive this weekend! Erik’s quilt is ready for the binding, but I need to go down and get some yellow thread. I think we are going down that way tomorrow, so maybe his quilt will be finished by the weekend.

I also got our Christmas photo book ordered, most of the Christmas gifts purchased/ordered, and a pretty hair clip for the party on Thursday.

I did not get any shoes. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I scoured the town today and there are simply no suitable 11W shoes available. I have a pair of black sandals that will do in a pinch, but I really wanted something that matched the feel of the dress. Shoes can make a huge difference to your look at a function like this and it SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS that my feet are so big that very few companies manufacture shoes to fit me. Even the drag queen store fails me because my feet are too small for their selection of shoes.

Did you miss me? I just took a blogging break and ordered a pair of shoes from Shoebuy. I order from there a lot and they usually have things to me about five minutes after ordering. I don’t know how it works, but I seriously don’t think I’ve waited for more than two days for a purchase to arrive. Here’s hoping they keep up the good work and the shoes fit and look good. I should have thought of this last week, then I wouldn’t be racing the clock! I was pleasantly surprised by the number of 11WW shoes available in the dressy section. I never look there because I’m never dressy.

I guess I better quit rambling and get to bed. We had a wonderful “GOOD MORNING EVERYBODY!!!” wake-up call at 6 am today and yesterday. Today he was so tired he took a three hour nap! As soon as we got home from the gym he wanted to brush his teeth and go lay down in bed. I was worried that he wouldn’t go to sleep tonight, but he was down by 9, so it wasn’t bad at all. I just don’t know what time I’m going to have to get up tomorrow. I’m scared!

I wouldn’t be surprised if he is up all night with a tummy ache. He won’t eat fruit, but he ate about 20 slices of pepperoni tonight. I ate one slice and had to get some Tums. Crazy kid.

Liam is a very constipated boy. I’ll tell you what they told me. First try Benefiber. If that doesn’t work (and it did nothing for Liam), go to Miralax. I’ve talked to alot of Mom’s who’ve used it, and it’s non-addicting. It may be worth a try.

My sis-in-law gets her kids to eat fruit by sort of tricking them into thinking it’s not fruit.
She just whizzes a bunch of dried fruit in her food processor until it’s smooth and spreads it out in a big square on greaseproof paper (about 1/4 ” thick) and puts it in the oven overnight on a really low heat (about 150ยบ F I think). Then when it’s done she chops it into different shapes with cookie cutters.
They end up being reasonably sweet from memory, so maybe he would eat those?
