Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! I hope you all got something a little sweet today. I baked two pies because I am insane in the membrane. Pumpkin pie on Halloween is a family tradition, though as a parent I’m wondering why. Isn’t there enough sugar? Shouldn’t we change the name of the holiday to Sugar Day? I was a meanie and gave out Play Doh instead of sugar. I was worried, but my only two trick or treaters were beyond excited.
Back to the story of pie.
We planned a night of trick or treating with our friends. The guy in the family has a very limited pallet. He does not enjoy pumpkin pie, but adores pecan pie. I love pecan pie but can’t justify making it because of the sugar content. Since I was making a pie anyway, I figured I could just double the crust recipe and make two pies. So smart! Then I sent almost the whole thing home with him, so I don’t have that temptation. Score!
The boys LOVED trick or treating, of course. Instead of saying “Trick or Treat” they often said “We need candy!” Erik did a great job of only taking one piece but his little friend was a devil. He kept demanding more from each house, so I think his bucket was quite a bit heavier than Erik’s. They were pretty hilarious.
Here’s a couple of more pics from our trip that I really liked.

Won’t this be a great picture to blow up and have on display at their wedding? Too bad Erik has the pink remains of his purple cat on his cheek.

I love how they are bonding!

I do agree with you: Traditions like this is important to hold on too and pass to the next generation. Halloween is not one of those in Norway, but as you have red on my blog, we have plenty of others and they actually gets more dear to me as time passes by.
Hope you had a great one and I wish you all a wonderful end to your week :-)
