Knock on Wood

It feels like I’m always posting about Erik driving me crazy, so I thought I better let you know that the child was an angel today. He slept in late and was happy all day long. I think it helped that we went to a different playground and he loved it. It was a bit of a drive, but it was really perfect for his age. There were lots of kids, so he was able to find lots of kids to harass that didn’t mind Mr. Social being their best bud. We stayed for about 3 1/2 hours! Insane! The weather was chilly, which is perfect for both of us. I can sit on a park bench all day as long as I don’t get overheated.

The only problem? No bathroom! I don’t mind letting Erik pee behind a tree, but it’s a little embarrassing and rude to have him poop by a tree. I kicked mulch over it and made sure we were in a spot where kids shouldn’t be playing, but ewwwwwww! Most of the parks around here have bathrooms so it was a little odd that they didn’t.

We was so worn out from his intense day of playing that he ripped his clothes off the minute we walked in the door. He lounged around in the all together for a couple of hours before we were back out for a bike ride. Mike had to work late because his company finally had some big announcements to make. I am so glad I didn’t have to sit in that particular meeting. Mike’s department gets to keep their jobs for 90 more days but almost everyone else is looking at immediate unemployment in a horrible economy. I’m so thankful that Mike has another job lined up and we don’t have to move into our car and depend on the charity of others.

Mike got home late, so we headed over to a restaurant even though we usually don’t like to take Erik out for dinner. We were both shocked when he was a perfectly behaved little boy who didn’t cause a single problem. I could get used to this!

His hair is starting to grow back a little and he’s chubbing up again, so maybe it is finally time for some official pictures. I hate it when he looks like a bald turtle, but I guess all kids go through the lanky, skinny period after a growth spurt.

And that’s all she wrote. I think I have a sore throat. I’m trying to convince myself it’s allergies, but I think it is the real thing. At least if it is the real thing it will go away instead of lingering. I’m prepared to pee neon yellow Airborne pee until its gone.

Also, Mike was almost famous but he left work too early to be included in a music video. Drat! It would be cool to be married to a video star.
