I loved reading about how you met your husband, thank you! My husband met in person but courted through IRC (pre-ICQ). I spent summers in Norway and Sweden but realized early on that I couldn't live there. I get along well with my husband's father (Swedish). It's the bitchy Norwegian (his mother) that I have issues with.

lynanne's last blog post..Since that's out of the way...

My husband and I courted through ICQ, too!

My in-laws don't sound like your in-laws. They have the same curtains year-round.

But they don't like to stand out, that's right.

A nice and readable story and Erik look really great in the picture - no wonder you are proud of a good, young looking gentleman like that :-)

Wishing you a great end to your week!

I've heard and experienced the 'Swedish conformity' myself. I don't think it's just Kiruna - it's in a lot of other places as well (maybe not Stockholm or similar bigger centers?). I found it unusual since Canada is more of a 'stew' - many different cultures being celebrated and brought together. Nothing like seeing a Thanksgiving dinner filled out with turkey, thin bread (Swedish/Norwegian), tourtierre (french canadian), bannock (North American Indian), some sort of curry dish and peroghies and cabbage rolls. I'd have trouble living in a place where you have to try to be like everyone else. Ugh!
