Princess and the Pea

I really need to shave my legs. Anyone want to come over and do it while I cruise the internet? No? Thought not. It’s such a boring task, but I know if I don’t do it I won’t sleep well. It’s at that prickly stage that keeps me awake all night. I am such a princess. I’m not likely to sleep well anyway because Erik was playing in the sand today, which always translates into sand in the bed no matter how well we bathe him before bed.

I ordered a few t-shirts from Threadless for Erik and Mike during their big sell and they arrived today. I had no idea they were such high quality t-shirts. I’m very impressed and am M-A-D that they don’t carry plus sized women’s shirts. I could technically fit in their bigger men’s sizes, but I’m a picky, picky dresser and refuse to wear something that doesn’t accommodate my mini-mountains. Bah. I’ll just have to live vicariously through Erik and my skinny husband.

The weirdest ad just popped up on Freecycle. Someone gave away a set of dishes last year and now she wants it back. Huh? I have a feeling she’s not going to be successful in that request. People can be so ridiculous.

Speaking of ridiculous, I hope I didn’t totally alienate one of my good friends today. She was over for a play date and mentioned how smart the Republicans were for nominating Sarah Palin since she’s a woman and very blue collar. I try not to talk politics in person too much, but I couldn’t let that one go and starting spouting off all the stuff I’ve been reading about the woman. She’s just so repugnant I still can’t believe anyone thought she’d be a good idea for the VP pick. Then again, what do I know. I hear her talk and it all seems to horrid and nasty to me, yet there are people who think her words are the greatest thing ever. I know everyone is entitled to their opinions, but I can’t fathom the mindset that agrees with such far right views. There were plenty of women Republicans that, while not someone I would vote for, would be someone that I could respect. Hee ha! Let’s go cook up those moosebugers and take away women’s right to birth control while teaching everyone that the Earth was created in six days!

I am going to get irate if I think about it any more, so let’s think of something more pleasant.

I need to take some pictures of Erik because he is SO BIG. When did this kid grow up so much? Poof! He’s a big kid. He’s always walking around saying he is big and strong. When I carry him because he’s being a stinker and won’t walk right, he tells me he is too heavy and I have to put him down. Wonder where he’s heard that one. Couldn’t be from me.

I tried to clean my camera lens with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab. I hope it worked because it was totally nasty. All my pictures were blurry, which is really disappointing since we didn’t get many decent pictures of the recent family visit. Heck, I still have to edit our pics from our July trip and put them into a book. When? Who knows.

This weekend I’m planning on re-covering our dining room chairs. I realized last night that I’ve had the fabric for 11 months, yet I haven’t gotten around to it yet. Pathetic. I’m just nervous because I’ve never done anything like that, but I guess the worst that can happen is that I screw it up. No one’s going to die or anything. I might cry and Mike and Erik will be stuck with a crazy, emotional weekend woman. What’s new, though?

Is it time for bed yet?

I recovered my chairs - and it was surprisingly easy once I started. hope yours isnt a big project.

and you’re right- if it doesnt work you can always try again later.

Our dining room chair recovering wasn’t too big a deal after all, either.

I only like discussing politics with people who totally agree with me.
