Things

1) I have been so bad! When I got back from the trip, I had a sweet little package filled with beautiful teal hand made dish clothes and magnets from Sonnet of the Moon! I love my bloggy friends. I can’t imagine using hand made dish clothes because they are much to precious. Instead, I plan on licking them whenever I get hungry for teal. I’m a freak. Thanks so much for the gifty!

2) I got almost no quilting done while I was in Oregon. I took a quart sized baggy filled with hand sewing supplies, but I only managed to get one melon sewed down. Boo! I need to get back in the Dear Jane saddle. I have a ton of blocks I could hand applique, but where is the time? Mike cleaned up my sewing area while I was gone, so I am not allowed to use it for the next three weeks. My in-laws are coming in August and we’d like the place to be nice. Hopefully we can sell our elliptical machine this weekend so we can stick an air mattress in the loft so our niece can sleep there instead of on the couch.

I did manage to get to the quilt store while I was home and I scored some great deals. Bad me! I even bought a pattern for an applique Christmas quilt, but when I looked in the bag it wasn’t there. I left the receipt with my mom and hope she will go in and ask about it. The lady was really confused and overcharged me by $24 at first then forgot to give me the pattern. Boo!

3) I can’t believe it is my turn to teach preschool again. Blargh. We are doing musical instruments so I’m supposed to do a lesson about strings. One of the ladies plays the guitar, so at least that will be fun for the kids. I went out and bought long jewelry gift boxes and rubber bands and made little mini-guitar like things for the kids to play with. It is going to be a pretty simple day, but in my experience the simple days are much more fun for the kids.

4) I’m so glad I have a friend who has a kid bigger than Erik. I scored a giant trash bag of clothes today. I am too wiped out to even go through it, but she’s already given me a ton of shirts and they are all stylish and well cared for. I’m liking this hand-me-down thing. My sister used to give me hand-me-downs, but her clothes were neither stylish or well cared for so it was more of a storage burden than a score.

5) I’m so glad I have friends, period. I spent almost four hours over at my friend’s house today. It was so nice to just let the kids hang out while we talked about our crazy ass families and relaxed. We are currently in a situation that might cause us to move in the near future and I would love to get out to the west coast or Colorado if that happens, but I would hate to lose my friends. It is so hard to find kindred spirits that I can’t stand the thought of letting them go.

6) I went to Body Pump today! I missed the turn over to the new routine (they switch every three months I think) and I am not impressed with the new music. What’s the deal with turning 80′s music into rap music? I first noticed that a few weeks ago with the Dirty Dancing song. This week I noticed it with Living on a Prayer, Time After Time and at least two other songs. I hate rap. I hope the instructors go back to some of the old music soon.

7) I thought coming back to the East coast would mean that I didn’t get tired at bed time. Instead, I am tired constantly. It must be the humidity. It weighs on my like a baby elephant mistaking me for a lounging chair. Gah! Time for bed.
