Ghoulish Delights
Though I wonder just how much Erik gets out of seasonal arts and crafts, or any arts and crafts for that matter, I do make an effort to get over my cynicism and have him create little things that are fun even if they are beyond his skill level. He’ll appreciate the pictures someday, right?
Last weekend we went to a super lame Pumpkin Festival put on by a housing development. They have 2,000 pumpkins all hollowed out and carving tools at the ready. We just had to grab as many pumpkins as we liked and carve them up. The catch? We couldn’t take them home because they were going to light them up. If we wanted, we could back the next day and try to find ours. We didn’t want.
Erik was not too enthralled with the whole thing, though he was enthralled by the entertainment, The Rock and Roll Relics. He wouldn’t go through the hay maze or anything after the band started playing old rock and roll. He was delighted to boogey to their music and we enjoyed it as well.
I’ve been buying up Halloween cookie cutters in prepartion for a Halloween sugar cookie making marathon but I hate making sugar cookies. Instead, I bought a Halloween cake kit with four different colors of frosting, so we made little Halloween cakes today. I was even a semi-healthy cook and dumped a jar of peach mango baby food in the mix instead of water and oil. It grossed me out so badly I didn’t even taste the batter and don’t want to eat any of the cake. Definetly healthy for me if it means I don’t eat any at all! Mike says you can’t even tell.
Pictures are worth a thousand words, so here you go:
