Waterlogged

I really don’t want to take a third shower today. I didn’t want to take a first shower. I only wanted to take a second shower.

The first shower was just stupid. I went to bed with a head full of moulding mud, something akin to ear wax, and it spent the night seeping into my eyes. I had a horrible night’s sleep thanks to the burning and even had to get up and try to wash my forehead and eye area a couple of times. Having sensitive eyes sucks. I have to be very careful of the products I use on my face and hair because if it gets into my eyes, even just from fumes, I’ll be in pain all day. My skin is also allergic to a lot of things (including lavender), so I am one of those people who can’t just walk into Bath and Body Works and start trying out things. Instead of finding my inner zen I’ll most likely end up with burning hands. Lots of baby products have lavender. How can something be ok for a newborn butt and not ok for my hands?

So that was shower number one. Had to get the gunk out of my hair immediately! I didn’t want to go to the gym and sweat it out directly into my eyes.

Shower number two was the post-gym shower.

Shower number three is going to be a full body exfoliation experience. I am not looking forward to it. It sounds like a fancy spa treatment, but I can’t quite bring myself to find my inner zen about my sandy cleavage.

We took Erik to the sand pit park tonight and he had a ball. He ate almost no solid food all day, but as soon as he hit the sand pit he was eating the sand by the handful. Ummm. Yeah. My cooking is not that great? Or he’s some kind of worm hybrid? I don’t even want to contemplate what handfuls of sand do to the digestive track and diaper area.

At the end of the night he ran away from me and in his haste managed to trip face first into the sand. Being the good mama that I am, I gingerly picked my way through the sand and saved my boy, giving him a giant hug even though he was COVERED in wet sand (it rained here today).

Thus, I need another shower. My cleavage is being rubbed raw.

My life gets more thrilling by the minute, doesn’t it?

Thanks all so much for the kind words about the hair cut. I really do like it a lot better than it was before, but it is just going to take some time getting used to this particular cut. I think she left a little too much bulk up front and I’m not sure what to do with it all.

Thanks also for the suggestions about solving my social dilemma. When she first “invited me” I told her I wasn’t sure if I could come since I didn’t know if I would have the car, so this morning I sent off an e-mail letting her know I wouldn’t be able to make it. She sent a nice reply back that she would miss us. I’m glad to know my instincts about what to do were right. No way did I want to be someplace I wasn’t wanted, though I honestly do think it might have just been an oversight and not a deliberate slight. I have no way of knowing, but since I’m not PMSing I don’t have the angst going on this weekend. Hallelujah! I could do with an angst free weekend. Mike will be grateful. I think after six years of living with a woman he is getting a wee bit tired of the monthly melodrama.

And now I’m going to totally copy Pigs and do the (not so) annual picture post! Request a photo of something in my world that you’d like to see and I’ll oblige as best I can.

I don’t know, I had to give my kid three baths today. The first one was planned, the second one was from a messy meal, the third one from pooping in the second one.

I don’t know if you can do this, but I’d love to see what a Latin Cardio class looks like…if not, any Swedish food you have in your house.

I don’t see how kids can stand to have sand all over them while playing in a sand box or in a sandy park. I get even a little bit of sand stuck to me and it drives me absolutely crazy.

By the way, I love your new do.

Yay more pictures! I want to see Erik playing in the sand. And your favorite shoes. And where you blog. That will be all.

Yay, I LOVE picture posts! I’d love to see Erik do a sign, if at all possible! Otherwise, a picture of your bookshelf would be nice. And a close-up of the most embarassing item in it (book or knicknack or whatever)! :) (I’m really thinking I would love to see the handcuffs, but since “mature and responsible replies are greatly appreciated”, I don’t know …)
