Funky Tummy Indeed
What does a person with a funky tummy not want to do? Eat nachos. Why oh why would I crave Tostito cheese dip when I’m having bottom system troubles? Why would I give in to those cravings? I know not, but I know it was a very bad idea.
Thankfully Mike was able to take his telecommuting day today so I wasn’t left alone with sickness and baby. I still had errands to run and appointments to keep, but life was much sunnier than it was yesterday. Namely, I got to sleep! Erik screamed for a solid hour before we finally caved last night. What is the appropriate amount of time to let a child scream (with period check-ins of course)? Anything more than an hour just seems cruel.
I took some Immodium and noticed the package said “don’t drive or operate heavy machinery.” I laughed in the face of danger and went for a drive down the highway to pick up some Little People sets for cheap from Craigslist.
On the drive home I got lost.
I was just driving along the highway I always drive along, then BAM! I looked around and had no idea where I was. It finally dawned on me that I missed my exit, though I clearly remember seeing the exit one mile before mine. I know I wasn’t sleeping. If I fell asleep going 70 mph I doubt I ever would have awoken. Luckily another exit appeared on the horizon and I got home in a timely manner, but it was sort of scary anyway.
And now I better go attend to the screaming child. He is with his papa in bed but that doesn’t stop the screaming. I don’t know what on earth is up with him. Tomorrow I’ll write a glowing report about his good traits because he has them in spades, but this night screaming has to end!

I hope your stomach feels better soon. And I also hope that Erik re-adjusts back to his bed soon, too.

I think once you start the Ferberizing, you have to let the screaming with check in go on as long as it takes…otherwise you have just taught them that if they just scream for an hour, they will get what they want.
Not the news you wanted, I know.
I hope you feel better soon.
