Little Bit

Just a teeny-tiny little post tonight since I stayed up way past my bed time watching Veronica finally solve the big mystery. Ten isn’t “way past” my bedtime, but I paused TV in middle of Gilmore so I could do Erik’s night routine (it is so, so sad when the Baby Einstein credits roll and he goes from being blissed out baby to scared whimpering baby). What a world we live in when we can pause live TV. Does anyone even know how it works?

I love technology and use it every day, but what can I really do? What can any of us really do? Can I fix a car? Can I start a fire without a match? Can I grow a tomato? Can I slaughter a chicken and pluck its feathers? What’s going to happen to us when technology goes nuts and we lose all electricity and we are just stuck living off the land? Who will survive? Where do you even get yeast to make bread? Where does it come from? I guess if they had it back thousands of years ago someone should be able to figure it out. I think I’ve read that if you just leave some dough out long enough it will capture yeast from the air. I guess that’s why some types of bread have a starter that you just keep in a jar somewhere.

I can’t imagine why some people call me cynical.

Mike had his telecommuting day today so I got to run an errand I was really excited about. Except I got to the store and the thing I was planning on buying four of for various gifts was gone. I looked high and I looked low. I looked all over that stupid store and I didn’t get the thing I was counting on getting. I’m so mad! So I went to the mall and couldn’t find the alternate thing I wanted either. I finally found something suitable in a store I hate, but by that time I was hot and tired and back achey and cranky. It took every single little bitty bit of willpower not to get a Blizzard or cookie or some other sweetness that the mall was offering up. My only pleasure was frowning at the stupid Dead Sea salesmen. I hates them I do.

I did manage to find a new leather jacket for Erik for a mere $4.99. It’s not as cute as his other one, but it was the only one in the entire store and it happened to be his size. How could I resist at a price like that? I hate his stupid primary color boy coat. I got it cheap at the consignment shop, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it.

Finally, I get to give out a big cheer! I finished my last set of questions for the freelance work I’m doing! It’s possible I could get a list of revisions, but thus far I’ve only had to revise one thing out of the whole bunch so I’m not really expecting that to happen. I actually know how to follow directions, unlike some of the others (from what I’m deducing). I feel like I can finally get my life back a little and breathe. It will be well worth it when I get my paycheck, though (hopefully by the end of the week). Then it will be on to the second phase, but that won’t be for a couple of weeks I think.

My cousin’s wife works for a lawyer and they had a nut job in there a few weeks ago going on and on about how she didn’t want to purchase a cow, she’d rather buy her meat at the grocery store so no animal had to die. Riiiiiiiiiiiight.
