Yummy

The source of the fever has been determined: stomach virus.

At least it has only been puke so far. I smell like puke, the baby smells like puke, the bedroom smells like puke, Mike smells like puke, the couch smells like puke, the carpet smells like puke. . . you get the idea. Doesn’t that make you want to run over and visit?

The last time he had the pukeys he wasn’t eating solids yet. What sweet little puke. I do not like chunky purple puke. Only the first few pukes were bad, though. After that he had no solids left in him and he refused to eat any. I guess he knows what he’s about.

I thought I was going to have to take him to the hospital in middle of the night he was just so danged hot. I took his rectal temp again (aren’t you glad I shared such a lovely thought so early in the morning?) and he was only at 102.8. I’d don’t ever want to have to feel 104. I know I used to get 104 degree fevers with regularity thanks to tonsillitis. My poor mom!

My grandma called yesterday to berate me for sending her a Mary Kay catalog and when she found out Erik had a fever she gave me some wonderful advice: Give him sugar-free ice cream! She’s clearly insane. I would rather feed him a whole pound of sugar than give him any artificial sweeteners. I’m crunchy that way.

I talked to my mom later on and she started laughing since when she was a kid she certainly never got ice cream to cure a fever.

I found out last night that I’d been looking at an October calendar instead of a September calendar so that really screwed me up on everything I need to do. Basically there is no way Mosaic Minds can go live on time so we are delaying it for two weeks. We need two more short stories and two more features before I will be happy with it. I can’t deal with all of that and a pukey-clingy-hot baby.

We ordered the second half of the second season of Battle Star Galactica from Amazon and it shipped out a week ago but has been sitting somewhere in Maryland instead of finding it’s way to our house. I love being able to track a package but it is SO FRUSTRATING to see it just sitting there not going anywhere when it is in the same state. Today is the estimated delivery day, so if it really arrives I guess we are going to have a BSG/baby puke marathon. We were bad and watched a “BSG: So Far” show last night even though we haven’t seen the last ten episodes. Now I am more anxious than ever to finish the second season and start the third.

When Erik spikes a fever, try a cool bath. I swear to God, it does work. Olivia has had high temps of 103-104 and the cool baths do work. Of course, I had to load up with a ton of tubby toys but she did calm down. The Motrin also helped too!
