Daily Report
Today did not start out with sunshine and butterflies. Oh no. It started out with buck teeth sinking into my nose and ended with poop in the bathtub. Just my kind of day.
Though Erik has issues when it comes to sleep, night sleeping has generally been good since his birth. I can only recall two occasions that he was up and awake in middle of the night for more than a quick nursing session. He goes to sleep later than most babies, but then he wakes up later than most babies and this suits my anti-morning feelings quite well. Thus I was not prepared for the 6:15 am declaration of “dooka dooka dooka” (his new favorite word). We did manage to take a morning nap, but a nap is just not the same as a solid nights sleep.
We did have a fun infusion for lunch. We went out with my friend, Karen, and her baby and had a grand time feeding the kids Chinese food. I did have a slight problem because there were three HUGE goldfish swimming in a tank rather close to us and every time I’d see them ripple their fins I thought I would gag, but I am a freak and we all know that. Karen has a Costco membership and I’ve been thinking about getting a membership as well since they pay their employees a living wage and I can afford to care about that kind of thing. After a trip to the local store I have to say “no way in hell” to my butterfly and roses idea of shopping at an employee friendly madhouse. There were a few things I was interested in buying, but the looooooong lines and general chaos stress me out and I don’t want to put myself in that position.
When Erik and I came home I laid down with him and we both woke up four hours later. Can you say sleep deprived? I’m not a napper because naps make me grouchy, but the sleep was much needed. I slept right through dinner preparation time so Mike and I decided to head out to our favorite little Mexican place that we hadn’t been to in a couple of months. BAD IDEA! They totally changed the menu and the food was awful. The chips were so stale that I braved talking to the waitress and asked for new ones. She brought a new basket out, and the chips were warm but they were still stale. Hot chips are a good things. Hot, stale chips are still a bad thing. What a colossal waste of money. I don’t know what I’m going to do for my Mexican food fix from now on. There is one more place in town that we haven’t tried so I guess the next time we get cravings we’ll have to go there. I don’t anticipate it being any good since apparently people on the East coast don’t understand what refried means. They just serve whole pinto beans. Freaks.
Then it was home and time for Erik’s bath. I’ve read about babies pooping in the tub before but it never occurred to me that Erik might some day do such a disgusting thing. Tonight was the night for grossness though. Aren’t you glad I share these things with you?
And now I really am going to go to sleep. And my sheets are waffle-crumb free! I had to get up in middle of the night last night and put on long sleeved/long legged pajamas to try to get rid of the grainy feel, but it didn’t help. I’m just a princess waiting for a country.

One of my biggest dreads of moving back to the East coast (as much as I’m dying to!) is the loss of quality Mexican good. There’s just no substitute.
Also? My sister once pooped in the tub WHILE I WAS IN THERE WITH HER when we were little. One of my earliest memories.
