A Woman Possessed
I don’t know what happened, but I looked around the house at 7 pm tonight and realized I was all packed. Done. Finito. Of course, there are still the last minute morning items, but everything else is in suitcases and ready to go.
How did this happen?
Usually I’m up till midnight the night before a big trip, totally stressing out and throwing things all over the house. I guess I was partly inspired by our early morning wake-up call. I need to get up no later than 3:30 am. I really don’t want to be scurrying around at midnight.
I don’t know how often I’ll be able to update here, but I’ll do what I can. We’ll get back July 22 at 6 in the morning. I hope an overnight flight was a good idea. My idea was that Erik would sleep. It shall be hell if he doesn’t.
I called the airline directly and they say my flight is scheduled to run on time. Miracle! The last three flights I’ve had experience with (as a passenger or host to a passenger) have all been cancelled, making for some seriously fun times at the airport.
I really hope it wasn’t a mistake to schedule such a long trip. Will my family and I kill each other? It seems likely. I love them and I know they love me, but I am so different from them that it’s hard to be around them for long. Erik makes a great social lubricant, of course. Now, if I can just keep them from giving him hot dogs, ice cream, cake, sausage, eggs and dog food we might just get along. Not that they would actually give him dog food. My nephew loves dog food and eats as much of it as he can get his hands on since it is out for the dogs. I don’t want Erik doing the same.

Audrey loves eating cat food as much as I try to stop her. It’s inevitable that she’ll manage to ingest some of it. Hope you have a great trip. Really.

Have a good time! (I like the phrase “social lubricant”.)
