Ka-ching!

I had my first Mary Kay sale tonight and I wasn’t even trying hard. Two of the moms from my group came over to be guinea pigs and I promised them I wouldn’t give them a hard sale. I am so glad I had the chance to practice on them b/c I was stumbling all over and totally confused. It’s much harder than it looks to read off the flash cards, look people in the eye and direct face washing all at the same time. Yikes!

One of the moms bought some make-up and the other is going to host a party so she can get the stuff she wants at a discount. Whoo-hooo! I do believe I’m off to an acceptable start. So far I’ve just been spending spending spending on this new little endeavor, but now maybe I’ll start to see the profits. Starting a new business is very expensive, but at least with Mary Kay I don’t have to rent a space and buy a whole load of stock and hire help and decorate and so on and so forth. I’ve had so many schemes run through my mind throughout the years, but this is something that’s actually doable with very little risk. I guess if it goes well I can sell cheesecakes at the parties as well. Or not. Can you imagine a cheesecake facial?

We almost got away with no rain today, but the heavens opened up this evening and put on another grand show. I’m tired of grand shows. I really hope Mike is able to take the commuter train tomorrow or else I’ll be without a car and I have things to do. It’s been closed the last couple of days thanks to all this rain.

I’ve been watching the news and seeing some pretty insane flooding. Luckily we are not quite that bad off here in Germantown. We’ve been hit with a lot of water, but no flooding as far as I know.

And now it is way too late for me to be up and rambling. I need sleep. Neeeeeeed sllllllleeeeeeep. I was so tired this afternoon that I actually laid down and took a nap with MisterE. I could NOT get him to go down. His eyes were glowing red from tiredness but he just refused to calm down and sleep. I finally decided to feed him lunch and two seconds later he was out cold in his high chair with onion and chive cream cheese spread all over his face and in his eyes. I couldn’t just leave it there, so I wiped him up and took him to bed and he barely stirred. What a silly goose.

Did you catch that reference to onion and chive cream cheese? As odd as it sounds, that’s his favorite thing to eat. He will only eat things with really strong flavors these days. Those fruit puffs that all the kids are eating? He turns up his nose at them. He wants real things. He wants lentils with lots of curry, oatmeal with a TON of cinnamon and butter, spicy meatless meatballs, refried beans with a kick. I guess he comes by his love of flavors honestly since those are the things I eat, but it is so funny to see him get excited about his food these days compared to the disdain he has for the flavorless mush of just last month. He’s getting so big! I saw a three day old baby in Target today and couldn’t believe how tiny and helpless it was. I sort of miss those days, but not really. Erik is much more fun these days and just as cuddly as ever.
