This and That
Thank you guys for backing me up on the zebra toy (or I should say most of you!). Even after Mike’s explanation of why it looks like a rooster, I can’t see a rooster. It is a zebra. It has stripes. The makers say it is a zebra. We’ve had that toy about a month and it is MisterE’s favorite. Last night MisterE was having his screaming fit, so I was having my screaming fit, yelling “Bring me the zebra! Bring me the zebra!” Mikey-boy was completely clueless. Silly man.
And for you dirty girls who thought the big, red protrusion from the zebra’s bottom area was naughty, SHAME SHAME SHAME! It’s a teething ring/slot-putter-inner-thingee. We have this baby gym with 8 slots. You can put different toys in them to make it more fun.
Oh my lord. Have I really been reduced to baby gym talk? Gag gag gag. Should I just cancel this blog now and put everyone out of their misery?
I couldn’t sleep all last night because I was worried about my blog. I will be gone for over two weeks in less than a month and I don’t want my blog to get lonely. My mom said she was going to buy a new computer, but I didn’t believe it. I called her today and I was right–no moola for a new computer. Anyone want to make a donation? (That’s a joke . . . mostly). I don’t know if I want to take my laptop or not. I can’t put it in my checked luggage and my carry-on will be full of baby stuff so it seems like it would be a pain in the patoot to haul that bad boy around. I don’t think Klamath Falls even has a Starbucks and I know they don’t have a Panera. Where would I access wireless internet even if I took the laptop?
I’ve devised a scheme to keep my journal from dying a poor little death. Between now and the trip I’m going to write up a bunch of entries in my spare time (this plan is doomed to fail) and have Mike post one each day. Now I just need some topics. Do you have any questions you want to ask me? Feel free. Turn yourself into a proper Peter Jennings. Do you want to see pictures of anything in particular around this house? Ask away. We’ll see what I can do. Do you know where I can find a treasure trove of cool memes that don’t involve song lyrics? Do tell.
Ok, enough of that. You want to hear how I lost my mind the other day?
I lose my mind on a regular basis, but this incident is actually kind of scary. I couldn’t find my keys. I looked every where and they were just gone gone gone. I tried locating my jeans that I had worn the day before to check the pockets and they were gone as well. I was getting extremely frustrated because jeans are not small things. How can a person lose a pair of jeans?
Finally, I was about to give up when I thought to look down.
I was wearing the jeans that I’d spent at least 30 minutes looking for.
DUH.
Still no keys though.
Eventually I found them on the staircase, which was bizarre. I’m usually predictable in my absent-mindedness. Mike later told me he found them in the front door lock when he went out in the morning. Scary scary! Any manner of bad things could have happened, the least of which would have involved having our car stolen. It probably would have been stolen if we were living in our old apartment. It was skeevy.
Ok, gotta run for now. I have one last Mosaic Minds thing to do then I can relax a little. I’m extremely pleased with this issue. We have some great writing in store for you on February 1.

How about a superlatives series? Funniest thing that happened in Sweden. Most surprising things kids said when I was teaching. Most surprising things other teachers said when I was teaching. Best way to whatever.

I don’t know how a baby figures into this since I haven’t tried it myself yet but I’ve found that there is internet access where you least expect it! Sometimes the more remote you are, the more places that have free wi-fi. It’s as if they need to stay connected more than anybody else because they are so remote. So as the girl who toted her laptop to Paris and back, I say take it! But I don’t have a clue about how to carry it with a bunch of baby stuff. I haven’t even been out of the house with my baby and stuff yet. :)
Also, I have a good meme from you that Tall n’ Lucky sent me. I’ll tag you with it.

If you travelled a lot, I would suggest getting a PDA with wireless keyboard, the sort that is also a mobile phone, or at least will hook up to one. Mine will hook up to a phone, but I don’t have a mobile so it doesn’t work for that. But the thing is, it’s SMALL. And the keyboard folds out to almost full-sized, and I can type on it just as fast as I can on the computer. I always have it in my bag, so if I am inspired I can whip it out and type away, and download it to the computer when I get home. (Or whip it out and play solitaire, cough cough.)
I love my Palm.
