Queen of Rambles

I’ve got someone fooled into thinking I was nice this year. Mike insisted that we open up our gifts while the sun was still shining, which I found odd, but his agenda soon became clear. He gifted me with a gorgeous sapphire and diamond bracelet! I assumed he was getting me some sort of jewelry since I’ve been dropping hints for something sparkly since September. I decided it was better to blatantly hint about what I want than be disappointed when he can’t figure out something good on his own.

I gave him a new digital camera.

I feel vaguely guilty since that is a gift I will be using a lot as well, but he thinks he got the better bargain. He informed me that he doesn’t wear sparklies. I think I’m glad.

I’m also feeling vaguely guilty for not buying my kid a single Christmas gift. Maybe “Santa” should set his new pack of diapers under the tree. It just seemed utterly pointless to spend even more money on Christmas gifts when he shows no interest in the toys he already has. He’ll never know, unless I ever figure out how to make BlogBinders work again and get the rest of my journals bound (I’m so irritated that it won’t work! I’ve even e-mailed customer service and haven’t heard back from them. Grrrrr.).

It’s been a really nice and relaxed day around here. I watched my absolute favorite Christmas movie, Mixed Nuts, which makes me laugh harder than just about any movie I’ve ever seen. I don’t know anyone else who likes it. Then I made a pie and Mike made meatballs and we did piles and piles of laundry. It’s amazing how much laundry a new baby can generate. He drools all over everything, which increases the amount of grown-up laundry. I didn’t see that coming.

I was going to make a cool SAJ style slideshow of our Christmas pictures, but I’m not smart enough. I knew she had directions up somewhere, and after some tricky googling I found them. I didn’t know how to do step 1, though, so I guess I won’t become the next slideshow queen unless I find lots of time to read through some photoshop tutorials. I don’t see that happening.

And now for something completely different. I’ve been seeing the Seven Things Meme, but I am really not interested in most of the questions. Here’s my own personal Seven Things cop-out Meme:

Seven Things I Want to Do Before I Die

1. Publish a book
2. Sleep in a non-haunted castle
3. Adopt a child from a needy country and/or become a foster parent
4. Take my mom to Hawaii
5. Live in a house with a tower
6. Visit New Zealand and/or Australia
7. Buy a whole wardrobe in a normal store/non-plus size section (this is the one that I think has ZERO chance of ever happening)
