I've wrestled with the whole will thing. My sis will be devastated that she is not even my third choice. But heck, I'll be dead so I won't be worried. I'm writing her a note to be given to her in the event of such circumstances, outlining my many reasons. I think it's very important to choose the guardian for Erik who is right for your family - and that means right for you, Mike and Erik, nobody else. My parents did that for me, which worked out fine, and then chose a 'duty' guardian from our extended family for my younger sister, which has caused no end of problems since even though they never had to take up responsibility as such.
