Busy Day

I’m going to be running myself ragged today–not the smartest move in the world but there you have it. We’re going on a tour of the birthing unit at the hospital in just a little while. I think I better clarify that the two hidden camera looking thingees that are pointed at crotch angle above the beds are actually lights. I was freaked out when I was there last week and saw what looked like two department store security cameras. I stared at them for a long time before realizing they each had a switch under them labelled “surgical lights.” Makes much more sense! Of course, I used to be paranoid that my landlord in Astoria had put a hidden camera in my bedroom smoke detector because it was always blinking. My paranoia is perfectly natural–my mom always had the TV turned to the Lifetime network. Now she always has it turned to Court TV.

Speaking of paranoia, I have been looking at craigslist for baby supplies and figured out we could probably buy almost all necessary baby items for at least half price if we were willing to schlep around the metro area. A lot of the stuff on there looks like it has never even been used. The paranoia? What if one of the sellers is really a crazy baby-wanting woman who kills me, slices me open and steals my baby? I never would have imagined such a scenario if it hadn’t happened to that poor woman who was just trying to sell her puppies.

Back to the busy day.

So, birthing center tour, shopping at Target for two things I must have, car oil change and then off to Pentagon City to meet one of my college buddies for coffee. I’m pretty excited about that! After talking to him last night, I got the feeling he never got the second e-mail I sent him a few months ago. Here I thought he just didn’t want to deal with me for some reason. Anyway, it should be fun. I haven’t seen a single college buddy since I left OK in 1996. I am not a very good keeper-upper with people.

Can I do all this and manage to keep my nerve bundle from killing me? I hope so. If not I am going to have to just amputate my leg.

Amputation would be quite the quick fix. Have fun!
