Sleep Rhythms

It’s amazing how quickly I can get out of sync with sleep. It’s 6:16 in the morning and I’ve already made an almost complete quilt top this morning. Granted, it’s just a baby quilt and it was a SUPER SUPER SUPER easy pattern and I didn’t press my seams open, but I’ve made a quilt top. in an hour and a half. I am going to add a border, but other than that it is done.

I woke up a couple of hours ago and couldn’t sleep. I didn’t want to play on the computer, so decided that maybe I should press the fabric for my niece’s new quilt. Then I looked up the pattern and though “well, I could just see how it’s going to work. . . ” and viola! I was done. It’s too bad it is going to be a really cheap quilt that falls apart after a month of use. I bought the fabric because my sister was in love with it. She’s a frog fan and the fabric is all from a collection of girly frog fabrics. It comes from Wal-Mart and is basically see through. How can I tell my sister that she can’t actually use it as a quilt? If she wants it to last she’s going to have to use it as a wall hanging or something. I never want to work with such cheap fabric again. I have been spoiled by working on Julie’s quilt. She bought really nice, quality fabric and it’s just a dream to work on–but the pattern is just complex enough that there’s no way I would want to try working on it at 4 in the morning.

So now should I go back to bed and attempt to sleep or should I eat breakfast and get ready for the day. I’m not quite tired enough to sleep but I’m not awake enough to get up. I really need to have energy today because Mike is coming home tonight and it would be nice if he came home to a clean house. House cleaning is not really “my thing.” I can keep the kitchen clean, but other than that I’m a sloppy pig.
