Rush Hour

It seems that Saturday in the city is just one giant rush hour. Ugh. For some reason I got the brilliant idea that it would be Fun and Exciting to go down to the big Ikea retail area and take care of some business. It was not Fun or Exciting. Ikea didn’t have a single decent dining room set, but they did have some junk that we just had to buy, mainly Swedish wrapping paper. Why am I so into Swedish stuff when I didn’t even like living in Sweden? Then it was over to Wal-Mart to have my soul sucked out. I thought I’d get a pumpkin there, but their pumpkin bin was filled with rotting pumpkin slime so I had to leave before I threw up. I did manage to get some thread, so I am currently doing the very last step of my quilt! This calls for a celebration.

We ended up at a different furniture store and bought a new dining room set! It is not as pretty as the other one and I’m not as pleased with it, but it is much more practical and will give us a lot more room to grow. Plus it is going to be delivered Friday. Friday! So tomorrow we get to go in and make a scene at Marlo’s. Mike doesn’t want to go with me, but I’m going to make him.

While furniture shopping I had a lovely visitor. Thirteen days late, but it just had to show up right then! ARGH!!! I am just glad that I didn’t have any pregnancy drama this time. From now on I am only using the cheap Wal-Mart brand of pregnancy tests. If you’re not pregnant they don’t have little lines that make you tank you are!

I’m sure I had a million more things of utmost importance to share with you, but I can’t think what they might be. I will tell you that even Pillsbury pre-made crusts are disgusting. I think they run them through garlic or something. I desperately wanted a pumpkin pie tonight but didn’t want to go through the pain of crust making. Guess I learned my lesson.

Oh! I know! The missing chicken!

We got home from the store and couldn’t find our chicken. I looked everywhere, Mike looked everywhere, the chicken was on the run. I went back to the store and it was there, along with three other bags of groceries that were not mine. Apparently they bag boy was having a really bad day. When we were there originally there was a jar of peanut butter rolling around on the counter that’d he’d forgotten to bag. I’m just glad I wasn’t losing my mind.

That’s so funny about your groceries. I’ve left my groceries at the grocery more than once. Congrats on the new furniture!

Okay, the grocery story pushed me over the edge and had me laughing out loud – truly unusual in my life. Thanks for the pick-me-up and ‘grats on the diningroom set.
