Weirdness

There’s just something strange when you’re watching the Olympics and realize the music in the background is Iron Chef music. I guess it was probably traditional champion music before Iron Chef got ahold of it, but it still makes me slightly hungry yet afraid of giant sea urchins.

The guy who so desperately wanted our bed never showed up. He was practically begging for it on the phone, but never called or e-mailed to say why he didn’t show. Bad man. Guess I’ll contact the next person on the list tomorrow and see if she’s still interested. I figured out why I found the initial e-mail to be creepy. Being addressed as a “dear friend” and being told “I hope this finds you well” is exactly how all those Nigerian diamond mine scam e-mails begin. I haven’t got one of those in ages.

Speaking of spam, I am so glad I remembered to sign up for the Do Not Call list. The first week we were here we were getting spam calls every five minutes. Insanity! The phone has been much quieter since the ban went into place, though there are still a few who get through.

I think we need to take our car to the shop again. When we go out on the highway it sounds like the front tire is going to fall off. I used to wonder about people who always seemed to have problem after problem. What were they doing wrong? Were they just too picky? Now I understand. They were just having a run of bad luck and it seems to have settled on to me. Yes, I have a good life. Yes, I am healthy and happy and generally well. But I am still feeling unlucky. Lots of little things have been going wrong ever since we moved here and it is getting old. I guess I should just shut up about it and be happy I am not horribly disfigured or something.
