Crash Boom Bang!

I didn’t think I was going to get to make a post tonight. It started thundering a few hours ago and things just got worse and worse and worse. I headed to the gym and watched as the parking lot started to flood. The electricity was blinking on and off. Lightening was very close. Thunder was shaking the building. We just don’t get storms like this in Oregon very often.

I was there for an hour and had no idea just how bad things really were. The drive home? Not so good. The main road was practically flooded. I was driving really slow, but the water from the road was splooshing up over the top of the truck. When I turned onto our side street, the corner of the road was actually crumbling away. All the ditches are full of water even though the irrigation system no longer runs through here. The poor cat was sitting in the garage mewling. She wanted in the house but was afraid to brave it. I picked her up and she went wild about halfway through the walk to the house (five whole steps). Luckily my dad happened to open the door to see what was going on, so I hurled her in before she bit me.

Isn’t the weather a lovely topic?

It’s been a weird day today. We woke up bright and early. I had breakfast at 8. Then I felt really tired and cold so I thought I’d lay down for a minute. I woke up three hours later with the biggest puddle of drool I’ve ever created ringing my pillow. I hope I’m not getting sick.

We ran into one of my favorite teachers from high school at the Mongolian grill, so that was pretty cool. Then we ran into THE two biggest bitchy teachers from my job at the grocery store. One actually said hello (the one who told a student I didn’t know anything). I was rendered speechless. The other totally ignored me and I totally ignored her, except for flipping her off when her back was turned. I should have flipped her off when she was looking, but you never know when something like that will come back and bite you in the butt.

I’ve been doing some more searching for apartments and think we are going to be able to get into a good place if Mike gets a good offer. We know things are moving because his old boss e-mailed and said they had called him. We assume he gave Mike a good reference. Julie told me to look at the metro map to figure out the area we should live in. She’s so smart. Happily enough, the two areas I think would be the best are perfect for a metro commute to his work place (the HR lady had marked the work place on a metro map). I hope they call tomorrow!!!!!

I got a coupon for $4000 in the mail today. Too bad it wasn’t for Jo-Anns or something cool. Instead, it’s for a brand new Saturn. I must admit I loved my Saturn. I can’t imagine using a coupon to buy a car. And we’re going to try to go the no car route for as long as we can. And we aren’t driving a car across the country even if it would save us a lot in sales tax. I want to buy EVERYTHING here to save on sales tax, but I guess after shipping costs it wouldn’t be much of a bargain. Plus, we have no idea what kind of space we are going to be working with so we don’t know what we should buy.

And now I have to go do some emergency Mosaic Minds work. If it’s not one thing it’s another. This issue has actually gone extremely smoothly. We’ve really gotten into a good groove.

It’s scary to move to an area you aren’t familar with. Best of luck to you!
