Bonding
That is bonding, not bondage. You dirty minded people can climb out of the sewers. Our happy little family of Mike, Daddi-o and me have been having all sorts of bonding moments. Mike is especially amused by my nicknames, given to me by my dad–Turd Head and Lardo (the Lardo would be offensive, except it’s because I have big bumps on my head that the doctor says are just full of lard. I just discovered a new one today. Wonderful. That makes four.).
We’ve been messing around with my dad’s arrowheads and that’s made him all sorts of happy. It’s been a long time since he’s played around with them since he can’t hunt them anymore. It makes him sad for the old days. I didn’t know how well this printer fabric would work, but it turned out really well. First he just wanted a wall hanging with a few frames, but now he wants a giant quilt with pics of all his frames. Easy peasy as long as he gives me the cash for the fabric sheets (3 for $6, so it is not cheap). Is anyone interested in arrowhead pics? I can post pics if someone wants to see them, otherwise I’ll be lazy and not do it.
Because of all this arrowhead stuff, Daddio decided Mike and I need to make up a frame using our own ideas. I have zero desire to do this. I am not artistic at all. Mike, on the other hand, seems to be a natural. My dad has tons of good pieces not in frames and gave Mike full access. He has a great design started. I think my dad is envious. Dad told Mike he could keep it when he was done, which was a jaw-dropping sort of statement. He never gives away his arrowheads. He gave one to Mike’s dad when they were here and that was enough of a shock. A whole frame? That’s unprecedented. It will be neat to have as a reminder of home. I am putting some beads in it for a little color.
Speaking of color. . .
I finished my Granny’s quilt
today. I am not nearly as pleased with it as I was with the one I made for Margie, but I suppose that’s to be expected when you don’t have total artistic freedom on a project. My grandma helped pick out the fabrics and I am not a fan of all the designs. I really do like one thing though–putting the yellow blocks in the corners helped pull it all together. That was my dad’s idea. I never would have thought of it.
I finished Tepper’s Gibbon’s Decline and Fall and LOVED it. I was a bit leary of it at first and ready to give up on it, but it turned out to be really well done. Usually her endings irritate me, but not this time. It made the part I was having trouble with make sense. Extremely bizarre, but that’s par for the course with Tepper. I do have one small complaint, though I can totally see why Tepper did what she did. At the end one of the characters has a major choice to make that could alter humanity forever. She makes the choice, but the reader isn’t told what choice she makes! That’s what I call evil. Though I do like that the reader can think about the choice. I should post the choices, but that would be too much of a spoiler for the book.
The book raised a very interesting question–one I’ve pondered before but not in depth. Where are all the female gods? I know some circles do believe that the Christian God is neither male or female or else is a combo of both, but in general all the major religions of the world worship male deities. Where are the women? I as a very strong Christian until I turned about twenty-four. Now I waffle and question and can’t decide what I believe. So many people talk about how God “talks” to them. I never, ever, ever had an experience where it felt like any god at all was talking to me. Religion is just a big tangled up mess and I have no idea what to believe. I want to be visited by a goddess. Is that so much to ask? I’m not quite serious, but I am serious in the desire to know why we have to be in such a male dominated world. I’m so glad things are changing on that front.
Too much philosophy and not enough sleep. That’s my problem in life. That, and a bunch of dead house plants. I must have death ray vision when it comes to plant life, the poor babies. My purple orchid is holding up pretty well, but that’s about it. I never did take a picture of the purple bathroom. We should clean it tomorrow and I should show off.

I like Grannie’s quilt! If you weren’t moving, you and your dad could open up a quilt shop!
