I’m hypervenitlating over here!

I think someone needs to get me a paper bag! I can’t quite hypervenitlating. This time it’s a good thing, unlike the hysterical hypervenilation that came with wedding preparations.

WE ARE MOVING TO WASHINGTON DC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, ok, it’s still tentative. Things could go wrong. The job offer could totally suck. We could win the lottery tomorrow.

I don’t think so though.

We knew Mike had a pretty good shot at the job when they paid for him to go out there. You don’t pay for something like that unless you are serious about the candidate. We figured there would be a couple of other serious contenders but that Mike had a good shot.

He arrived this morning and got a speech from the HR lady. She told him all about the benefits, handed him some info about housing and told him to have me call her when we move out there. She will help me find a job. That was the first clue.

Then he was passed along to the supervisor. He asked a few questions, but mainly talked about how great the company was. Then he went to a lower supervisor. He actually did ask some questions. All along, the assumption seemed to be that he would be working there. They weren’t asking freaky questions about what kind of animal he would be or what his biggest weakness was. They were asking technical questions about his experience and knowledge.

They took him out to lunch. Finally, four hours later they told him he could use the phone to call me. I didn’t get much out of him then, but a while later he called from the hotel. They told him they are going to put together and offer and call next week. Can you believe it!!!!!!! They also asked if we would need a trip out to find housing. I think Mike told them no, but he will most likely have to change his mind on that.

So now it’s planning and moving and packing and finding a place to live and getting accustomed to a whole new world. We think we are not going to get a car right away. They told him very few people drive to work. They all just take the metro. We will do some number crunching, but it would probably be a lot cheaper to just rent a car when we want to do the occasional road trip to Ohio instead of buying a car and paying insurance and all that good stuff!!!

I am seriously going to burst here people!

I better take my dad to the fabric store today so I can get his quilt made before I leave. I bought printable fabric so I’m just going to take pics of his frames and print them out, then use them for the quilt. It will be super fast and easy, much better than the other plan. He is totally stoked about it. He keeps telling me that it is going to be the neatest thing ever and that I can probably make quilts for all his friends like it and they will pay me a lot of money. I don’t know if that is true, but it will be fun to make something like that for my dad. He is such a butt head, though! Today he was wanting attention so he kept yelling at me to come to the room because my dog got ran over. It sounds awful, I know, but it’s not like I believed him. If any of the animals got ran over he would not be laughing and telling me to come into the room. He would be sobbing. He has a special affinity for animals. They are almost more important than people to him.

Ding ding ding!!!!!! I’m just excited and typing nonsense. My hands are shaking. I think I might puke. I just can’t believe this!!!!!!!

That is SOOOO great! ‘Grats to Mike and you. I’ve also never lived on the east coast - that will be a huge adjustment. But to have the HR person want to help YOU find a job is awesome.
I could feel you shaking from here.

You will love it. DC is amazing. And yes, if you are going to live in the city, you will probably just take the metro most places. You may need 1 car if you live outside of the city though.

OMG Carrie! Congratulations!! Although I have disappeared, for the most part, from the blogging world, I always stop in from time to time to see how you are doing. I saw your post on Amerikanska and had to come over to ‘your house’ (website) to congratulate you and Mike!

Hugs and wishing you the best,
    Billi :)
