Snow, Sweat, and Stench
It’s dumped a foot of snow over the past couple of days, which means walking anywhere is no fun at all. The snow itself makes you feel like you’re walking in loose sand–hell on the thighs–but that’s not the only bad thing. My snow boots make my feet go numb after just ten minutes of wear. They’re pretty worthless, aren’t they.
Not that I have much occasion to go out. All I do these days is scrub-a-dub-dub, pack, scrub some more, and then scream and yell in frustration. I can’t believe how close this move is getting! The last of the buyers of all our stuff are supposed to get here in an hour or so and then it will be “bye bye chairs, bye bye sofa, bye bye everything.” We’ll just have the computer and our suitcases left. Mike says I can finish up the Mosaic Minds stuff with the computer on the floor. I think not. He has to work for a couple of hours tomorrow so I’m going to go out there and take over his computer and finish the stuff I need to finish. Then I’ll be incommunicado until Jan. 3. Not that I am communicado much right now. I haven’t read blogs in several days and I haven’t been answering any comments either. I’m being run ragged, I tell ya!
Last night Mike found two Nyquil capsules in the cupboard so I took them in hopes of sleeping well. They did their job and knocked me out cold, but it sure was hard to wake up this morning. I had a laundry time at 10 am so I didn’t have time to take a shower since the towels had to be washed. That meant I couldn’t shower until 1 pm, which was annoying. So I was walking around here in my old, baggy, holey sweats and a t-shirt (at least I had the foresight to put on a bra). My hair was standing straight up into the air, my pits were reeking of curry and vinegar (why, why, why do I smell like vinegar all the time???) and I was just a general mess and I scrubbed out the kitchen. Then I heard the fateful Ding Dong of the doorbell. Ugh. I had to answer in that state. I don’t think anyone other than Mike has ever seen me in sweats before. I am a big believer in facing the world with your best foot forward.
Anyway, it was the bed buyers, which I was not at all prepared for. I was going to vacuum the mattresses and stuff before they got here, but we thought they were coming tonight. It was pretty nasty in the crack. Oh well! They paid me and high tailed it out of there. I think the fumes coming from my body were repelling them.
And now it’s time to get back to the grind. Now I remember why we were just going to stay at my Grandma’s house. Moving into a place isn’t too bad. It’s the moving out that sucks rotten donkey balls.
