Daily Update

It’s been one of those “do nothing days” so I probably shouldn’t even bore you with an entry. Since when has that stopped me? I decided I would upload the picture of my ugly hair, but I’ll put it at the bottom of the entry so I don’t have to look at it. I think I need a nose job. It looks so bulbous in pictures. And my bangs look fine in person but they are freaking out in the picture. Bah. I hate having my picture taken (but I do with our dear wedding photographer would get off his ass and do something about getting us our prints).

I’ve spent most of the day knitting and reading, not necessarily in that order. My poor finger is sore from pushing on the needle so I guess it’s time to buy a big thimble. Or maybe my technique is just wrong.

I’ve also spent way too much time counseling my friend about her marriage woes. It’s hard to be a counselor when the person you are counseling is doing something you totally and completely disagree with. Plus, I don’t have a degree in counseling or anything like that. I took plenty of psych classes in college but they were mainly related to learning and development, not marital problems. I don’t enjoy this roll and keep hoping she’ll take my advice and see a real counselor. I doubt that will happen.

That about sums up my day. We did go for a nice little walk and I discovered my new walking shoes have no tread and are very dangerous on icy roads. Yes, icy roads. Winter has begun in earnest. I can’t wait to get out of here! Mike sent off a new batch of resumes today so I hope something comes from that. I am trying to convince him to give some of the companies a call at the end of the week so they can hear his voice and see that he is serious. It’s amazing what a little human contact can do.

And now for some dream talk. . .

Lately I’ve been having these weird recurring dreams that just make me laugh. I think they show that my life and mind set has totally changed. Instead of sex dreams or dreams of wealth I’m dreaming of super fantastic swimming pools. The dream starts with me being somewhere and I open a door that I’ve never seen before. Behind that door lies swimmer’s paradise! Lots and lots of big pools with lots of lanes and no kids. Some pools have currents, some have big diving boards, some have whirlpools. They are all reserved just for me! Yes people, this is my fantasy–big swimming pools. Mike better make great money at his new job so I can have an indoor pool.

Carrie, I really don’t think that’s a bad picture! The blue in your hair matches your eye color. It’s more subtle than I thought it would be! *g*

So what companies did Mike send his resumes off to? Has he found a corporate recruiter who specializes in placing people with technical backgrounds? I think it will be easier when he is actually in the US to get the companies to pay attention to him.

I can’t believe there is already ice on the ground there! brrr. Winter does start early in Kiruna. I’ve always wanted an outdoor fireplace on an outdoor porch. I think that would be nice. Then you could sit on your porch and be warm even when its cold out.

That’s not a bad picture at all. And your hair isn’t nearly as fruity as I would have pictured (I was picturing solid, shocking, radioactive blue)…and now you’ll never have to wonder what it would be like to have blue hair.

I agree! Your hair actually looks nice! It’s not a shocking blue at all! Very nice photo, BTW!
