Queen of Rambles

I’m going to have to disappoint you all and not post the picture of me and my blue hair. Maybe I’ll try again tomorrow. I don’t like posting pictures of myself at the best of times, so considering I hate the blue hair you’ll be lucky if you get to see it. Plus I hate my face. So if I can manage to get a pic that doesn’t make me look totally ugly I’ll post. If not you’ll just have to imagine that I look like a creepy witch. Not the color I was going for. It’s way too dark and splotchy and I just hate it. I am hoping it washes out quickly.

That’s about been my day. I also learned to knit, finally. Spent several hours over at Annica’s while she despaired of my fingers ever getting down the complex movements. I finally am getting pretty good at both knitting and purlng but I have a very strange problem. Or maybe it’s common. Who knows. I started out with 14 stitches on my needle and I currently have 46 stitches. Obviously I’m not turning correctly or something but I have no idea how to correct the problem. I guess I’ll have to go over for another marathon knitting session at Annica’s on Monday. She thinks I’ll be ready to knit something real by then. Ha! She has a pattern for a really cute baby sweater with elephants on the bottom and thinks that should be my first project. Shouldn’t your first project be a scarf or something simple? I think she’ll take back the idea of a baby sweater as soon as she sees my ever expanding practice swatch. Some of the rows are perfect, but then there will suddenly be two or three rows with big holes in them. I have no clue why.

That’s been my day. Nothing else to report, except that it’s very slick out. I hate it when it’s slick out. I can’t wait to move!!!!!!!! Mike’s boss is supposed to tell him the day he can go free next week some time. I hope he hurries up.

And to those who thought I was pregnant–sorry! It never occurred to me that you would come up with that idea. It should have. Annica was convinced I must be pregnant until I actually showed her the pain spot. She agrees now that there is now way it can be womb pains. Way too high and way too far to the right. The doctor asked if I was pregnant in a last ditch effort to try to figure out the problem, but as far as I know I’m baby free. Hopefully I’ll be able to make such an announcement in the spring, but right now is the wrong time to be pregnant. We need to get health insurance in the US first.

Ok, time to finish up those questions I was asked ever so long ago. I didn’t forget about them–just kept getting distracted.

Would you travel into space if given the chance? No way, no how. Maybe if the earth was about to be struck by an asteroid and they were evacuating all of humanity to some fancy colony somewhere I would, but as it stands now, no. When I was a kid I was totally into the movie Space Camp and my biggest dream was to go into space. Then I grew up and began to understand the very real dangers of space travel. It doesn’t appeal. I know Mike would love to go into space and I hate to be mean but I hope he never gets that chance (not that he would). I would have to put my foot down. Way too many bad things can happen.

Do you plan to write professionally at some point?

I have the general “wouldn’t it be cool to be published” mind set, but I don’t really have the determination to actually do anything about it. I don’t do well with self-imposed deadlines. Plus I have no clue where to start. I do have two books started but I don’t know what to do with them (one fiction, one non-fiction).

When are you going to frost mike’s hair?

When he’s really, really drunk. Which is never. He would kill me if I ever tried it. I wanted to dye his hair blue too and he was completely disgusted by the notion.

Why not move to Hawaii?

Lizards everywhere? Actually, I would love to move to Hawaii. If we could get jobs that would make us a nice living I would be willing to move out there. I don’t think there’s a space station in Hawaii though.
