The Queendom Taken Over
Dear Queen of Rambles Readers,
Oh No! Carrie is gone! And now some goober guest-poster named, Brenda, (aka Secret Agent Josephine) has taken over! She’s probably wearing a fake tiara, sitting in front of an some evil apple computer with a skinny screen, shaking with her new found International blogging power. Ah Ha! Thirty more readers from around the world to force to read long run-on sentences that start with “And” and “Because” and “So”.
Sigh… Well not really. No tiara wearing power trips here. Plenty of run on sentences though. This is a big responsibility really. Carrie has been blogging (or web journaling) for a year and has never missed a post! If she misses one today it’s just because of the time difference. It’s still the 29th in California where I’m posting from. Eeeeeeee! I miss Carrie already. You probably do too. I know she’s probably got some good stories percolating about Swedish bureaucratic red tape and dressing up to make her granny happy and and maybe even some tales about Mike for her return. But for now you’ve got me.
The thing is, though I’m pretty good at rambling, I’m not quite the writer that Carrie is so I apologize in advance. Carrie will be back in a few days! Go ahead and correct my spelling in the comments. I won’t mind.
I also have bad luck. I wrote a big long rambling post, especially for this entry, and I jinxed myself!! I had weeks to prepare and now I’m preparation-less. I no longer have that text to post. How could this happen?
First, I left work early (sick, well sorta fake sick because work was so boring today and I had no more work to do) and left the email with the password to log into Carrie’s site at work. Brilliant. I can’t go back to work to get it because I’m supposed to be “sick”. See, what those Christians say about your sins finding you out, it’s true! Time for plan B. I called a co-worker and had him turn on my computer at work and sift through all my personal emails until he found it. That was a painful process.
“Here’s an invoice from Amazon.com for the book called “Getting In Touch with your Fertility,” he says chuckling. “What did you say her name was Queen of What?”
And so forth… you get the picture. He finally found it and I had him email it to my husband’s home computer. No sweat right?
No. That would have worked great except I gave him the wrong email address. After clicking send and receive over and over for about an hour it donned on me that maybe I had the wrong address in my address book. I do have about three addresses for Mr. Husband (that’s what I call him on my blog) and one of them is wrong. Knew I should have fixed that. I realized this about an hour later when my co-worker was long gone for the day.
What to do, what to do. I convinced Mr. Husband to drive me back to work to get that email and forward it home again but to the right address this time. By now the building was locked up and everyone was gone so I wouldn’t have to worry about the whole not being sick thing. I have a key but it’s just kind of a drag to drive through LA traffic going that way between 5pm and 8pm. Traffic up the wahzoo. Going with someone else made it much more bearable.
The drive wasn’t too bad except Mr Husband had a zillion errands to run and THREE HOURS LATER I still have not delivered the expected guest post. What bad luck I have! I’m sure it’s the 30th in Sweden by now and Carrie has missed a day. I feel so guilty!
But it gets worse.
When I get home and retrieve the emails I find that the program I’ve written the post in is not supported by the software on Mr. Husband’s computer. Sometimes don’t you just wonder if things weren’t meant to be? Maybe I wasn’t meant to write a post about Magic Beds and all the day dreams I have of swinging in a hammock just two feet above a calm ocean, reading a book while the waves lap gently beneath me. A Cabana Boy bringing me a mojito with a cherry…. sigh….
Maybe I was meant to write a long rambling post about my bad luck instead. Maybe personal posts about everyday average things are more interesting than random out-there rhetoric on a random topic. I hadn’t wanted to write a personal post today because I’m going through some “stuff” right now that I really shouldn’t write about yet. Stuff that’s way too difficult to sum up in one or two posts.
So maybe my bad luck was good luck because now you get a glimpse into my crazy bad luck life and I’m saved from going into any depth on some personal issues.
But I do have the sketch I drew for this post. Here it is! Do with it what you will.

But do you like the White Stripes?

What is this some kind of trick question to prove my loyalty? I barely remember Carrie speaking of them. She’s not a fan, right? I like em. I’m not a die hard fan but I do like that song: dead leaves on the dirty ground. I don’t have the album so I don’t know if I like their other songs. I do like their colors. Red is my favorite color.
Or where you asking about the white stripes on my comforter on my magic bed? Just kidding.

What a great post, Brenda, … um I mean, Carrie!

Carrie is an obsessive fan of the White Stripes (or, as she calls them- “The Stripes”). She even insisted on traveling with with their latest CD so she could listen whenever the mood struck. Her favorite song is track #14. She is obsessed with trying to find out exactly who Helen is, and what her relationship to Jack White might be. Also, she is confused about whether Meg White is Jack’s ex-wife, or his current sister. I, Juan, believe that despite media reports to the contrary, Meg is Jack’s older sister. That’s what I believe, but Carrie is not convinced. Also, she is very very upset about Jack breaking his finger and having to postpone some of his shows as a result. She is furious with Rene Zellweger (sp?), and blames her. Plus, she thinks Renee is all wrong for Jack anyway. She thinks he would be better off with a brunette. She’s thinking Brooke Shields perhaps. Also, Carrie promised you would make a post about Seinfeld.

What!!!! Seinfeld! What are you getting me into here! I agree that Rene is all wrong for Jack. But Brooke Shields? Yeah, right. How about one of the Olsen Twins?

How about both of the Olsen twins! He is a rock star afer all.

Juan, Juan, Juan. . . What are we going to do with you?
Don’t worry Brenda! I am not a fan of White Stripes. Not at all. I don’t even know the name of the band members. I listen to country.
I do like Jerry Sienfeld, but am not sure how he fits into the big picture here.
I think you did a great job! You’re a very entertaining writer and can ramble every bit as well as I can.
